We should make healthy choices before starting cancer treatment so that you feel strong as you begin your treatment. Continuing to make healthy choices during treatment can help reduce side effects, and your doctor may recommend:
▪︎ getting plenty of rest.
▪︎Keep active and make time to exercise.
▪︎ Follow a balanced diet, rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
▪︎ Reducing stress.
▪︎ Avoid infection like cold and flu. Talk to your doctor about recommended vaccinations, such as seasonal flu shots. You should also stick to a pattern of behavior to reduce the possibility of exposure to infection while you're receiving chemotherapyActive measures, such as washing hands or using hand sanitizers before eating, and using gloves while tending the yard.
▪︎ You should visit your dentist for any signs of infection in your teeth or gums.
▪︎ Blood tests are recommended to monitor liver and kidney functions, and tests to monitor heart functions. If any problems are discovered, your doctor may delay your treatment or choose a safer chemotherapy drug and dose for you.
