Symptomatic diabetes is a rare disorder in which there is a problem with the secretion of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) also known as vasopressin. This hormone controls the amount of water the kidneys release into the urine.
As a result of this problem in the secretion of the hormone, an imbalance of fluids in the body occurs by secreting large amounts of fluids during urination, as this leads to the need for occasional diabetics to urinate excessively and thirst.
While the average person passes 1-2 liters of urine per day, occasional diabetics may pass 3 liters or more of diluted urine per day.
● Causes of accidental diabetes The main cause of accidental diabetes is the body's inability to properly balance fluid levels, as the reason for this depends on the type of accidental diabetes.
Here are the types of accidental sugar and the reason behind each type:
1. Central symptomatic diabetes. This type occurs due to damage to the pituitary gland or hypothalamus, which causes the body to not secrete sufficient amounts of antidiuretic hormone. This may result from the following:
• A tumor in or near the pituitary gland.
• Exposure to an injury as a result of surgery.
• Aneurysms due to artery blockage or bulging.
Head injury.
• Infection.
• Loss of blood flow to the pituitary gland.
• Genetic disorders.
• Health disorders, such as: Langerhans cell histiocytosis.
2. Accidental diabetes of renal origin, this type occurs as a result of a defect in the structure of the kidneys that causes the kidneys to not respond properly to the hormone, as this causes the kidneys to take a lot of fluids from the bloodstream, and the reason for this is likely to be the following:
Genetic disorder.
• Chronic kidney disease.
• Kidney diseases, such as: obstruction of the urinary tract, or polycystic kidney disease.
• High levels of calcium in the blood.
• Low levels of potassium in the blood.
• Take some medications, including: lithium.
3. Symptomatic gestational diabetes. This type is rare and occurs only during pregnancy by the placenta secreting an enzyme that breaks down antidiuretic hormone. In some other cases, pregnant women produce elevated amounts of prostaglandin, a hormone-like chemical that makes the kidneys less sensitive. for vasoprocin.
4. Diabetes with occasional thirst, this type occurs as a result of a defect in the thirst-regulating mechanism in the hypothalamus, as this leads to drinking large amounts of water.
Which reduces the amount of anti-diuretic hormone production in the body, and this condition may also be linked to some mental disorders, such as: schizophrenia.
● Symptoms of accidental diabetes, including the following symptoms:
Thirst.
• Drink more than 3.5 liters of fluids per day.
• Peeing more than 3 liters per day.
• Getting up frequently to urinate a lot at night.
• Wetting the bed while sleeping.
Pale, colorless urine.
Low concentration urine.
• general weakness.
Muscle pain.
• Drought.
• Unconsciousness.
● Home remedies, some preventive methods can be followed to support the treatment of accidental diabetes, including the following:
• Reduce sodium intake.
• Follow a low-salt diet.
• Drink more water.
• Limit protein intake and caffeine.
• Eliminate processed foods from the diet.
• Eat foods that contain water, such as: watermelon.
